Fuel Regulator

I cannot get a straight or consistent answer to three (3) questions: 1) Is the fuel regulator a part of the fuel filter on a '04 GC Laredo with the straight 6 4ltr? 2) If not, where is it located? 3) Will a bad fuel regulator stop my GC from running at all or will it just make it sporadic and stall at high RPM's?
