All those studys tend to be baisis towards imports and hate vehicles made for fun and don't get 1000 mpg. They listed the canyons/colorados as the top ten worst vhicles too but a Kia was in the top ten... :nono:

I will not go as far as to start Jeep bashing, but I tend to agree that Jeep Wranglers are poorly made and are not the most reliable of vehicles. Of the 35 plus cars I have owned during my life, it ranks near the bottom of my list. HOWEVER, as an off road vehicle for which it was designed, it can't be beat. There is no other vehicle as capable as a Wrangler right out of the box. I have never understood why people who do not use them for their intended purpose buy them.

I also strongly believe the bean counters are ruining the Jeep brand with it's current offerings, my JK included. The stock axle ratio of my Wrangler X is 3.21... my Liberty Sport is 3.73. Go figure... a Liberty Sport is better geared than a Wrangler X!! My '99 Wrangler SE was also better geared than my current JK.

While my JK is more comfortable and has more room than my old TJ, if I could turn back the clock... I'd take some money and fix up the old TJ rather than have bought the JK. The gearing alone on the 2.5L TJ was better than the JK.

Would I sell my Jeeps for any other off road vehicle?? No, but I sure wish they would put back more "Jeep" in their future Wranglers. They're trying to market the brand to more and more people who have no clue as to what a Jeep is... their current ad campaign with the blond sitting in the hair salon all day, and then getting in her red topless JK proclaiming, "I live, I ride, I am Jeep" just about says it all.

Yo bean counters.... let's get back to what a Jeep is supposed to be in it's next incarnation!!! And maybe finally improve it's reliability and workmanship.

Now back to regular programing... like my Jeep taking me deep into the Kofa NWR near Yuma, AZ as it did this past weekend... Only in a Jeep!!

The Jeep can be had with any ratio from the factory that you want, I got 3.73, and prolly shoulda went with 4.56, but I knew I wanted at least 3.73. if you wanted something, you should have gotten it, no just blame the company that offers it cuz YOU didn't ask for it!

And, it is the dang democratic gov't that is "killing" all american cars. ppl still WANT hemis, big-blocks, lots of power, but special interests will not allow it. don't blame Chrysler for the gov't crap! the Jeep is still one of the best american vehicles made, within those constraints, and it is not very expensive. so quit your bellyachin!

Okay, here we go... there had to be a first on this new forum and I think your it with not respecting someone else may have a different view. Congrats!!

Why is it when someone makes a post that you don't agree with, you have to preface your post with, "you are just looking to get a rise out of someone" and make them out to be the bad guy for not having the same opinion as you?? Come on dude, get real. I have my opinion and you have yours. That's good that you disagree with Forbes... you have every right to and I won't begin to make something out it, other than to presume if things are not to your liking, you don't play well with others.

Now... if you want, do a Google on JK reviews and see what they say other than it has good off road abilities. You won't find many, if any, that give it very good reviews.

I'm curious since your Bio or Sig don't say much... what kind of JK do you own and what do you use it for that your opinion disagrees with Forbes and mine seems to bother you? Am I to also assume the many other reviews that don't give the JK high marks are just to get a rise out of someone too??

I bought my JK for mainly off road use, nothing more, nothing less, so I'm off to enjoy the back country in it. While I'm out there I'll ask myself, "does it really suck in other areas as so many reviews state"?? I'll have to say yes it does. If it were not for it's off road capabilities for which I bought it, it would be nothing more than a box on wheels with very thin sheet metal, and not very good at anything else.

As for gears... nope, I'm far from an expert. But Chrysler even offering 3.21 gears in a 4x4 vehicle must have a hole in their head or cutting corners. As I've said before... even my stock '06 Liberty Sport 4x4 came with 3.72 gearing.

Nope, I don't care for the left either, in fact not at all. I agree special interest, government and the price of oil all had something to do with the demise of cars as the way we used to know them.

Yeah, there are some people who still want the muscle and big iron that used to roam our highways, there always will be, but I would think if you did a national survey, "most" folks would be very happy with their fuel efficient cars. The big cars that are offered are not the biggest sellers by any stretch of the imagination.

You've got to be kidding!! If Jeep is one of the best American vehicles made, it doesn't say much for our auto industry. On the other hand, if you look at big iron and what we have now, maybe it's a good thing.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Jeeps. I'm still not warmed up to the JK yet, but I will probably come around...


As far as reliability, Jeeps have a pretty spotty track record that goes back to the AMC days. I hate to admit it because I'm a Jeep fanboy. Wiring and electronics seemed to be a huge problem, and a lot of weak drivetrain components.(Dana 35, anyone?) Ask any mechanic and he'll tell you Jeeps are a pain in the ass. None of that matters to me, though. I still drive mine with pride and don't feel the need to justify it.

On the other hand, there is no engine more reliable than the good ole' 4.0 or 258(4.2), and no cooler vehicle than a Jeep. Too bad they had to get rid of the straight six.

Forbes and Motor Trend and all of those can kiss my ass, though. They all rate the more fuel efficient imports high, and the bigger American vehicles very low.
