Iv always liked the original Grand Cherokee's like my 98 better then the newer ones. Like the 2006 and up models, they are so ugly. With those ugly bug eyed lights that new cars seem to have these days.. This 2011 model is more luxury then the previous models.. I bet it couldnt drive in the snow very well either.. It looks like those kind of cars you see those Millionare check out my crib tv shows would buy.. It doesnt look very functional. It doesnt even look like a Jeep it looks like a oversized GMC, or Ford thats as long as a train and tall as a building. Whats with the bumpers on newer cars ? They arent even bumpers anymore they are plastic and hollow inside.. My GC 98 the bumper is solid as a rock and if i bump into something or something bumps into me it doesnt scratch, or dent, or crack.. These newer Jeeps the bumpers are plastic and if you even gently bump into something the bumper cracks and you get holes in it and have to replace the entire bumper..

I dunno anyone else agree with me here ??

Independent front and rear. Sad. They need to bring back solid axle front and rear

I'm testing these now and I have to disagree. Even though these are F/R Indep. Susp., they are more than capable off-road.

Both engines shut down cylinders getting 400+ per tank (I'm running around 280 miles a run and still having over a 1/3rd left). The Hemi has a 6 speed auto and the V6 has a 5 speed auto. They are slushboxes too. Tap em left to downshift and right to shift up.

The body panels are NOT flimsy and will NOT "crack easily". The suspension also has airbags with three ride height settings.

I was skeptical at first, but these Jeeps are the real deal.

IMO, and I could be proven wrong after these are on the trails. But the OEM IFS with their Range Rover style airbags may work well on the trails with the stock setup. But with stock your limited to certain tire sizes. What happens when you decide you want to run 31's or higher? IFS is limited on the amount of lift that you can add. Will you even be able to use springs or spacers with the OEM setup or will you have to gut the airbag system and everything that goes with it (I'm sure the computer will love that). What about the diffs? can they handle the strain of a larger tire? I know that the debacle that jeep had with the crappy Dana 30a diff in the KJ that will instantly grenade with any tire over a 32. Plus we were limited to 4.10 gearing, nothing lower. All of which holds it back from being a great jeep. The Liberty's did the Rubicon Trail in 2002 too, that just means it's capable in stock form, not that it will fit the meaning of the name JEEP.

3.73 appears to be the gearing from my guess. I'll be trying to get my Club to hopefully give these a workout with Chrysler engineers present. There seemed to be ample room for spacers. I'll take a gander on Friday.

Oppps... I have to disagree. While not as capable as a Wrangler right off the show room floor, it's still a pretty capable 4x4, and I consider it worthy of the Jeep name. I agree most people laugh when they think a Liberty being an off road vehicle, but then they haven't seen one off road and what it can do stock.

Now the newer Liberty, and the rest of Jeep's line up I think degrade from the brand image. I hate to see what Fiat has in store for Jeep, but who knows... they may surprise us.

LOL... don't let the gang over at LOST see your post. :slap:

 Reread what I typed last night... What I meant was that just cause something can do the Rubicon doesn't mean it's a Jeep. Got two thoughts mixed together when I typed. FWIW, I think the KK's are even more capable than the KJ's. Looks, eh not so much.

It just looks too much like eurocrap to me, and the diesel is only avail outside the U.S. again. I'm sure it would look better after it's rubbed on some rocks, but then again it costs how much?
